Public Meeting

Topic: Pre Labor Day Start

Meeting dates & times:
  October 4 - 5:00 PM

Location: District Board Room, Montevideo Middle School

For the past 3 years, Montevideo Public Schools has had permission from MDE to start school the week before Labor Day. We are now in the process of seeking approval to continue with the pre Labor Day start for another 3 years.
As part of the application process, we must hold 3 public meetings to solicit public input on extending the pre Labor Day start.
The public is invited to attend any of these meetings to voice their thoughts on the pre Labor Day start.
-----------------------------------------------

The Montevideo School Board will be holding four public meetings for input on the district’s long-range facilities planning.  Meeting dates are September 18, 24, 27 and October 4.  All meeting times will be 7:00-8:00 PM and will be held in the high school cafeteria.  Please come and make your voice heard during this important planning process! Some of the sample common questions will be:

 - What great things are happening at Montevideo Schools?
 - What are our biggest challenges facing Montevideo Schools?
 - How has education changed in the last 20 years?
 - If you won the lottery and were required to spend it all on your school, how would        you spend it?
 - What are the top 3 needs for a good education?
 - What advice would you give to the decision makers?

A Message From Mary Moore, RN, Licensed School Nurse

The flu season has begun and illness is starting in our community.   Influenza is an upper respiratory disease that usually lasts for 5-7 days causing fever, body aches, cough, sore throat and fatigue. The flu virus can spread easily in schools, sports teams and at work.

The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 months and older.  Instead of missing several days of school or work, there is still time to call Countryside Public Health at 320-269-2174 or your medical clinic for an appointment to be vaccinated.

Please refer to the attached “Influenza Symptom Screening Tool for Parents and Caregivers” for information about when you should keep your child home.

Contact your school nurse or family physician if you have further questions about influenza.
